GVA'OT WINERY

A boutique winery established in 2005 producing only 40,000 bottles of wine annually, Gvaot is dedicated to paying individual attention to every bottle to ensure a guaranteed, consistent standard of unparalleled quality. Gvaot’s winemaker, Dr. Shivi Drori, is a respected wine and vine scientist whose work includes the innovative rediscovery of ancient Israel’s wine-grape varietals from the Shomron region, specifically, from thousands of years ago. His PhD is in molecular biology, specializing in plant biology, and he has been making wine since 2001.
Recognized as one of the rising stars in the region, Gvaot Winery and its vineyards are situated at elevations of between 700 and 900 meters, with expansive views overlooking the rugged terrain of the Shomron. Currently cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the winery offers three labels: the Herodian label, the Gofna label and the Masada label. The ancient Israeli tradition of winemaking is the heart and philosophical grounding of this winery, who believes in using the latest scientific innovations to propel the local industry forward by understanding its roots.
